Muddler

(n.) A pestle that is used to extract flavors from fresh ingredients when mixing a drink by muddling. Muddlers come in different sizes, but the most popular option is 6-8 inches long and 1-2 inches in diameter with a flat bottom. They are usually wooden but can also be plastic or steel. In a pinch, the bottom of a wooden spoon can get the job done.
