It's always amusing when poop-slinging primates are cast in nobler roles, perhaps even spearheading national ad campaigns for PG Tips -- congratulations, Johnny Vegas! Bringing damn dignified apes to your torso: Beckett & Beckett.
Veterans of kids animation, this hubby/wife combo decided to throw it all in for the tee trade, settling on an all-chimp theme when inspiration hit after animating a cereal ad featuring Coco the Monkey turning the milk chocolatey (what he was doing before Chanel). Culture-referencing numbers include "Clock", with a banana-brandishing Droog ape; "Bond", with a simian-style classic gun barrel intro shot; and "Magritte", reading "Ceci n'est pas un singe", or "this is not a monkey" -- what with chimps actually being of the Great Ape order, a statement that's less philosophical, and more...actually-how-it-is-osophical. Then there's more random stock, like the transpo-inspired "Cab" (definitely non-licensed driver), "Vespa" (apes on holiday), and "Camper" (VW destruction), as well as "Heart", featuring a chimp grunt with a heart playing card affixed to his helmet, and the mugshotted "Original Criminal" (that'll teach him to plagiarize Shakespeare).
Warmer merch includes sweats, a cycling top, and "Born 2 B Wise" hoodies adorned with hear/see/speak-no-evil chimps sporting headphones, aviators, and a surgeon's mask – as if that could hide the shame of being replaced by an 18-stone idiot.
