Local artists get a place to crash

Hoping to open at the end of next week, NYLO's third Metroplex hotel, the NYLO Dallas South Side, is being built into the 100yr-old Dallas Coffin Co. building, with rooms boasting exposed 10ft ceilings, original concrete floors, and blackout drapes for those mornings you just know you won't want to get up off that concrete floor. We'll round out the hotel's dining/drinking/frolicking potential as it nears completion, but for right now, we're going to focus on one particularly unique aspect of this place: that it's basically one big giant DFW artist gallery, showcasing the work of 55 locals ranging from painters to glass blowers, all of which'll be for sale after the hotel's been open a bit. Get ready to get South-sided.
