Actually sweet art

There comes a time in every man's life when he's faced with a decision: do I go to med school, or just make weirdly original pop art portraits out of Red Vines? Luckily avoiding that lame life-saving profession (BORRRING!!) to make some ish out of candy, the dude behind Licorice Flix.

Opening tomorrow, LF's a totally weird/awesome art show from a "mosaic artist" who definitely didn't go to med school featuring all art made using those deliciously pliable red candies, and no, that isn't an obscure reference to the fun, flirty, women's shoe line.

Each portrait's made from, like, an entire movie theater's stash of red and black Vines, coated with an acrylic sealant and then glued down with Eileen's Tacky, which probably couldn't get any more ironic.

The result's bizarre, with subjects ranging from a clearly killing/sugar-obsessed Dexter, to Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka (natch), to Showgirls' Nomi Malone, who's pictured working the pole -- who knew Elizabeth Berkley had a thing with John Krasinski???

The opening party's tomorrow and has some drinks with alcohol in them, a DJ, and a sugar-high candy bar, as well as a meet-and-greet with the artist, who also will do custom portraits for a price, which you can pay him for Now, or Later. But like actually now.
