The Glass Tube Treehouse
Borat may have led you to believe otherwise, but Kazakhstan is actually a lovely country. It’s full of picturesque regions, has earned a reputation as quite the tourist destination, and is even in the running to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. It will also soon be home to one of the coolest homes we’ve ever seen: The Tree In The House.
The modern and minimalist abode—expected to be completed before the end of 2014—was designed by the firm A. Masow and will be tucked in the densely wooded forest of Almaty in the south of the country. It is, also, constructed around a living tree.
It was commissioned by a 38-year-old businessman and will be constructed from a series of metal columns, plasterboard panels, concrete and wooden flooring, and floor-to-ceiling windows so you can peek out at the army of woodland creatures spying on you.
It’s all fun and games living in the middle of nowhere in a cylindrical, Apple Store glass house until you realize both the bathroom and bedroom are fully exposed. Or maybe not?
The concept has been such a hit that other Kazakhs have requested similar projects from the architect. Coolest. Adult. Treehouse. Ever.
