As realistic as digital graphics are today, the classic pixelated 8-bit aesthetic we all remember from old-school video games still drums up a nostalgic feeling that advances in technology simply can't compete with.
That's part of what inspired artist Adam Lister's watercolor series, in which he's reinterpreted a litany of classic masterpieces and modern pop-cultural icons as crude hand-painted digital thumbnails. It's an awesomely meta project, and he's painted over 90 to date.
