This furniture used to fight fire

Making your set of IKEA Poang chairs look like a pair of chumps, Oxgut Hose Co.'s furniture collection is upholstered with decommissioned fire hoses salvaged from departments all across the country, so they've already handled pressure and stress that far exceeds that of hoisting your hindquarters.

Named in honor of the very first fire hose of Ancient Greece — one end of an ox's intestine was attached to a bladder filled with water — the lineup consists mostly of seating options, including folding stools, dining chairs, a bronze-framed beach chair on wheels, and even a stand-alone hammock.

Though if you're not big on sitting down they also offer a selection of mats made of colorfully crosshatched flattened hoses — for the floor or your wall — as well as iPad and iPhone cases, wine bottle totes, and a wood carrier, should you feel compelled to build the most ironic of fires.
