This TIE Fighter Sculpture Plays Glorious Mechanical Music
MB&F is behind some of the coolest horological creations around, but every once in a while they venture outside of watchmaking to lend their mechanical expertise to other projects. With the MB&F MusicMachine 3, they've not only left behind the world of watchmaking—they've left Earth entirely for a galaxy far, far away.
The music box is a collaboration between MB&F and REUGE, the only premier producer of music boxes in the world. The TIE Fighter shape is immediately recognizable to even casual Star Wars fans (and if you're a huge fan, you'll probably recognize it as being closer to the TIE Advanced x1 piloted by Darth Vader in A New Hope).
It's made from only top-level materials and mechanics, with 99 separate pieces working in tandem to play your tunes with hand wound function. It plays the theme songs from several classics, including James Bond, The Godfather, Mission Impossible, and of course, Star Wars.
The MusicMachine 3 is a limited edition and can be found here for about $18,500.
