Possibly the craziest hotel in the world

Treehouses evoke a simpler time, when the landlord paid you, the neighbors actually were animals, and a housing crash only resulted in a broken arm and the loss of your rudimentary cache of pornography. Bring childhood back sans the shoddy workmanship, at Sweden's Treehotel. Inspired by a documentary about three city slickers who build a treehouse, Treehotel wants to help you attain "harmony with nature" by bunking up in uniquely themed rooms -- plus a sauna! -- planted 20ft off the ground in a remote pine forest, accessible only by electronically retractable ladders, and/or secret password (hint: it's "girls are gross"). Opening this month is the 4-bed, bi-level "UFO Room", a porthole-windowed blue/silver future-lodging shaped like an actual flying saucer; and, equipped with dining room and rooftop terrace, the "Room with a View", offering triple vistas you could gaze out at all Day-Lewis long. Other tree-huggers include the "MirrorCube" (a 4x4x4m creation completely covered in mirrored glass, with a special coating preventing birds from unwittingly kamikaze-ing), and the "Birdsnest", whose cylindrical design is totally covered in branches, which even though they may all look different are actually universally Han Chinese. Rounding out the arboreal cluster are the "Blue Cone" (actually red, and square), delicately sitting on three support points and accessed by a bridge built into the mountain behind it, plus the more expansively rectangular "Cabin", with a separate covered deck accessed by a railed footbridge -- preventing you from crashing to the ground again, and forcing the landlord to pay you a hell of a lot more than pocket money.
