No matter how you answer "Who would you most like to have dinner with?" -- Nelson Mandela, Jesus, "The Last Castrato" Alessandro Moreschi -- afterwards you're still stuck with an uninspiring game of Parcheesi. Unless you go for Dinner With The Band, on IFC. The lowdown: in each episode of this six-part series, heavily inked rock & roll uber-chef Sam Mason brings a different band to his Brooklyn loft, then shows them how to take their favorite on-tour food and elevate it into brazenly gourmet cuisine. During the cooking/eating of the cooking, Sam and the band'll talk about food, music, and life (for a frank discussion of My So-Called Life, try your sister -- everybody else has. Hey now!). After the chow-down, the band'll take the lofts stage and rock out a set; this season's lineup includes Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Kid Sister and Flosstradamus, Les Savy Fav, MEN, YACHT, and Final Fantasy -- which hopefully involves a yacht rather than the triumphant massacring of Orcs. To commemorate the kick-off season, IFC's flying one lucky winner and a friend to New York City for a December 14-15 stay at the swanky Standard Hotel, a rock show, and an extravagant dinner -- during which you and your friend can talk about Johannesburg, Jesus, and...just what the hell is a castrato?
