Stilo says that The Frederick Cocktail’s “essentially a gentleman’s Mai-Tai”. Thankfully not a gentleman’s my-tie, because that’s mine. Get your own tie.
The Frederick Cocktail
INGREDIENTS: 2oz Bombay Sapphire, 0.5oz Sapphire syrup (1oz Bombay Sapphire, 0.5oz orange flower water, 16oz roasted almonds, 12oz distilled water, 12oz sugar, 3 lemongrass stalks. Cover almonds with water and let sit for 30 mins, take out and crush with blender. Boil water, sugar, and stalks till sugar is dissolved. Pour in almonds, and let sit until cool. Strain with cheesecloth into container holding Bombay Sapphire and orange flower water, and refrigerate.), 0.75oz triple sec, 0.25oz pastis, 3 lemon wedges, 0.5oz cardamom-crushed black peppercorn dusting (equal measure cardamom powder and crushed black peppercorn dusted over top of cocktail), lemon half island garnish (cut side of lemon in half, hold face down, and slide mint crown into cut side)
1. In a mixing glass, muddle lemon wedges.
2. Add Bombay Sapphire, Sapphire syrup, triple sec, pastis, and ice, and shake.
3. Strain into crushed ice-filled rocks glass.
4. Top with more crushed ice, and add lemon half island garnish.
