Your hook-up for unheard-of Aussie duds

To many Americans, Australia feels nearly endless, what with its thousands of miles of barren desert, and incessant Nicole Kidman. Bringing you Aussie gear on a much smaller scale, The Quillis.

A self-described "collective of brands and blog posts" from the land down under, TQ's a just-launched webstore peddling limited-run gear from various up-and-coming Aussie designers, all with the seemingly altruistic goal of "exposing emerging young brands", which in turn keep you from exposing old tats. The current lineup's headlined by Walart, whose cheekily arted, tear-proof/water-resistant 3-pocketed wallets are handmade from 100% recyclable materials (mostly paper), including a close-up of the Guess Who character Charles next to a handwritten note outlining his fall from the clergy; another covered in a bunch of non-prescrip pharmaceuticals on the interior; and a close-up shot of marbled raw beef from which a woman's bare chest is emerging -- whip it out on dates, and your chances of seeing the real thing'll be even more rare. To cover your (out)back they've also teamed with Fin, whose graphic tee designs run from a grid of b&w photos of Kate Moss, to a large photo of a topless model lustily straddling a piece of driftwood on a deserted beach, to a snapshot of the Beatles' first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show above the phrase "Beatles 4 Ever!", though at this point it'd pretty hard to get them to Come Together.

Rounding it out're a handful of tanks, plus cotton/nylon boardshorts in your choice of ocean-and-palm-tree'd Palm Beach or Pineapple, which tosses some fruit into the mix, ironically what Baz Luhrmann was going for when he cast Hugh Jackman.
