Merging creative endeavors with finance can be tricky business, unless of course you're Annie Leibovitz, in which case organzing your finances is a creative process unto itself. For the traveling fruits of business-meets-creative, Welcome Beyond
In development for over a year, just-launched WB's a carefully curated collection of "unusual" vacation properties around the world hand-picked by the two German brothers behind the site, one of whom had a fruitful career in finance, while the other designed campaigns for everything from Deutsche Bank to The Chemical Brothers, but apparently doesn't dig staying in his own hole. Browseable by country, every accommodation has a profile rife with background info info on the proprietor (including interviews that dig "beyond the obvious"), property/amenities descrips, nearby activities, and a strikingly high-qual photo gallery; peak/off season rates're also listed, along with "optional extras", from personal drivers to bilingual guides, in case you're just exploring your sexuality. "Hand-picked paradise" options include a luxe, zeppelin-esque cocoon house nestled on a hilltop on the southern coast of Australia, which boasts modern furnishings and ridiculous ocean views from its glass balcony; a yurt village settled on a remote lake in Patagonia complete with on-site restaurant, lounge, and guided excursions; an igloo hotel on a ski slope in Bavaria that has an in-ice jacuzzi; and an outpost of lakefront log cabins in the forests of central Sweden that, though lacking electricity, does feature a floating sauna and optional "Troll Family Tours", though you could have stayed at home and watched Comedy Central reruns if you wanted to see the Buseys
All booking's done directly through the property owner, who pay a small fee to WB that'll be funneled to one of their growing list of "shelter-providing" charities, something Annie could use now that she's a rolling stone.
