American Airlines Is Offering Free Drinks From New York to Chicago
Time to take back some of your anger and complaints about baggage fees on your last flight. Starting April 4, American Airlines will offer a free drink to everyone 21 and over on all “shuttle” flights between New York City’s LaGuardia Airport and Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
Fifteen of the flights will leave every weekday, and they’ll offer one complimentary beer or glass of wine for everyone in the main cabin. That’s probably not enough to satiate the appetite of thirsty frequent business flyers who’ll use this service the most, but one free drink is better than no free drink. Besides, the flight is only 2 hours and 45 minutes.
“When you fly frequently for work, anything that can make the regular commute more comfortable is important,” Alison Taylor, the senior vice president of global sales and distribution, said in a press release. “That’s why we’re pleased to offer valuable time-saving opportunities with our Shuttle, including a convenient and consistent schedule and extended check-in times for your and your bag.”
That’s nice and all, but nothing relaxes and makes you forget about the baby crying in the back like a cold beverage. And if that single beer or wine isn’t enough, you can always (legally) bring on a mini or two.
American Airlines just wants you to be happy and (maybe) forget the nickel and diming fees of the past decade. This is one of those situations where it’s best to just accept and say hey, if it’s free, it’s me.
