Warm weather is taking its sweet time to show up in 2018, but Bud Light is already rolling out a new summer flavor. Bud Light Orange, a citrusy take on America’s best-selling beer, is available now and will be on store shelves through September.
The beer is brewed with real orange peels, the company states, so “you can taste the citrusy goodness.” It’s 4.2 percent ABV, and has a similar day-drinking vibe and appeal as Bud Light Lime, which was released in 2008. Bud Light Orange has had a pretty quiet rollout, but it’s rapidly being added to more menus and stores.
But what does it taste like? Users on the beer rating app Untappd have mixed reviews. It’s been rated more than 2,700 times with an average rating of 2.89 stars out of five. On the craft beer focused website BeerAdvocate, it has a rating of 2.92 out of five. On reviewer, who gave it a 4.75, described it as tasting “like someone mixed together bud light (sic) and orange Fanta.” The soda taste is a common theme in nearly all of the reviews (good and bad), with the most negative coming from an Untappd user who compared the beer to an “Emergen-C and dayquil (sic) cocktail.”
Haters will hate, but there’s no denying the appeal of an orange soda-esque Bud Light on a hot day. You can find Bud Light Orange now at pretty much any store that sells Bud Light.
