You love Margaritas, you love cake and, gosh darn it, you definitely love a good rainbow. Now you can enjoy all three things in one. For a limited time, Butter & Scotch in Brooklyn, New York will serve a six-layer rainbow Margarita cake and make all your dreams come true.
Inspired by the entrants in Patrón’s Margarita of the Year competition (which also recently inspired a line of cocktail fizzers), the cake is layered with six different flavors, each of which reflects a different Margarita of the Year competitor: salted plum (purple) representing the Salted Plum Margarita, blackberry-cayenne (blue) representing the Skyline Margarita, elderflower (green) representing the Verde Margarita, passion fruit (yellow) representing the Passion Fruit Margarita, orange marmalade (orange) representing the Mediterranean Margarita and cherry tomato (red) representing the North End Margarita. The whole thing is covered with frosting inspired by another one of the Margarita entries, the La Margarita; it’s flavored with lychee, lime and ginger. The cake is also layered with passion fruit and lime zest and, of course, it’s showered in rainbow sprinkles.
But what’s a Margarita cake without tequila? Each individual layer is brushed with Patrón Silver and sprinkled with a little sea salt, to really make it taste like a giant, edible Margarita. You can try a slice for yourself at the Brooklyn bakery on April 11 for $9.
