Chili’s Is Selling Margaritas for $3.13

Step aside, Applebee’s drink specials. Chili’s is getting into the budget cocktail game with $3.13 Presidente Margaritas. On March 13 (3/13), Chili’s will be celebrating its 43 birthday with low, low prices on its iconic Marg, according to Delish.

The Presidente Margarita is a mix of Sauza Conmemorativo Tequila, Patrón Citrónge and Presidente Brandy. It’s shaken exactly 25 times as it’s brought to the customer’s table. It was introduced in 1994, and quickly rose to become one of the top selling items at Chili’s. In 2015, Edithann Ramey, the vice president of marketing for Chili’s, claimed more than 135,000 gallons of Presidente Margaritas are sold every year.

“The Presidente Margarita is not just your typical Margarita,” Sara Fasolino, the chief spirits sommelier for Chili’s said in a 2015 statement. “This one-of-a-kind beverage includes a special touch—Presidente Brandy—an ingredient aged for three years in white oak and not found in most Margarita recipes. It’s what gives the drink layers of flavor and dimension.”

And on March 13, you can satisfy your sweet, sweet thirst for Presidente Margaritas for less than it would cost you to buy a Big Mac.

The special runs throughout the day, including during Chili’s four-hour happy hour from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. It’s a shorter promotion and a little more expensive than Applebee’s recurring monthly drink specials, but that’s arguably what makes it more special. Plus, this isn’t just any Margarita, it’s the one that put Chili’s on the map (even if it’s not necessarily the best Chili’s Margarita on its long list of options). If only we could convince every cocktail-slinging fast casual to provide discount drinks on their birthday. We’re looking at you, TGI Fridays.
