Chipotle Is Launching a New Summer Happy Hour This Week

Chipotle has been upping its booze game as of late. Not only is the chain restaurant testing frozen Palomas, but it’s also one of our favorite places to grab a drink and unwind solo. Now, just in time for the dog days of summer, the American-Mexican fast casual restaurant is launching a thirsty Thursday happy hour.

The happy hour starts this Thursday, July 5, at 3 p.m. (which is very convenient for some post-Fourth of July hair of the dog) and will run every Thursday until the end of August. Here’s the deal: Chipotle is offering half-priced drinks with any food purchase, even if it’s a simple snack of chips and salsa. With that kind of deal, we’re definitely ordering extra guac.

The discount comes after a difficult year (publicity-wise) for Chipotle. The chain is trying to revive its image under new CEO Brian Niccol with programs like this, along with a slew of new menu items—supposedly quesadillas, an avocado tostada and a Mexican chocolate milkshake are in the works. Some markets can even expect to see a drive-thru option, so it’ll be easier to consume your massive burritos on the go.

Sadly, the new Thursday happy hour is only happening in participating locations around New York City at the moment. But if the promotion is successful, the restaurant may roll it out to other locations across the country. And Chipotle, if you’re listening, we want half price tacos to go with those half price drinks, please.
