Cinco de Mayo is on the horizon, and you have two choices: You could celebrate in an overcrowded bar with rowdy 20-somethings and bottom-shelf Margaritas, or you could ride in style aboard a luxurious tequila train. The Napa Valley Wine Train, one of our favorite ways to travel in California, just announced a new Tequila Train for this year. The journey kicks off on Cinco de Mayo, in partnership with Casa Dragones Tequila.
Revelers aboard the Tequila Train will get to enjoy a three-hour tour on an elegant locomotive, with tastings from Casa Dragones, a small-batch producer known for its exceptional sipping tequilas. A special four-course Cinco de Mayo dinner will also be served (expect dishes like Gulf shrimp ceviche and spice-rubbed flat iron steak), along with a signature Tequila Casa Dragones cocktail. Live flamenco guitar and Latin rhythms from Trio Solea will set the mood.
“We’re excited for the launch of this year’s extraordinary journeys and events to offer an unforgettable experience featuring world-class transportation, gourmet meals, live music, unique winemakers and new tequila partners, while taking in the natural beauty of the Napa Valley,” said Scott Goldie, Co-CEO of Napa Valley Wine Train, in a press release. “We hope to encourage the local community to be thankful for their magnificent surroundings and have visitors from all over the world embark on a journey that marries Napa’s love of food, exquisite tastings and music.”
If you can’t make the ride on May 5, Napa Valley Wine Train will run two more tequila trains this year, one on National Tequila Day in July and another in October for Dia de los Muertos. Tickets are $295 per person and can be purchased at winetrain.com.
