Disneyland Is Getting an On-Site Brewery

Disneyland will soon be the happiest place on earth—for beer drinking adults. Ballast Point Brewing recently announced that it’s opening Downtown Disney’s first on-site brewery in Anaheim, California, in late 2018.

Talk about the new brewery, taproom, restaurant and beer garden began last year when Disney reached out to Ballast Point. Disney execs had some drinks in a few of Ballast Point’s six Southern California taprooms and decided to make “an offer we couldn’t refuse,” Ballast Point president Marty Birkel told Brewbound.

“Our guests are constantly asking for new and innovative dining experiences, and Ballast Point’s selection of award-winning beers, locally inspired cuisine and friendly atmosphere make them a perfect fit,” Patrick Finnegan, the vice president of Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney, said in a press release.

The new spot will feature limited-edition beers exclusive to the Disney location (here’s hoping for an I Just Can’t Wait To Be King of IPA and a Hercules Imperial Stout), as well as Ballast Point standbys like Sculpin IPA. A kitchen will dish out food like fish tacos and house-made pretzels with beer mustard.

The brewery is in line with Disney’s new focus on bringing adult beverages to park visitors. Hordes of Disney-loving kids are all grown up now and visiting Disneyland with their own kids, and they want to drink while doing it. To which Disney says, be our guest. There were the 100-drink holiday cocktail menus and alcoholic theme drinks at new Disney World spots. Not to mention the around-the-world extravaganza that is drinking at the Epcot center.

With more than 6,000 breweries in the U.S., it’s about time Disney got one of its own. Drink up me ‘earties yo ho.
