If someone told you there was a perfectly acceptable way for tequila to be in your coffee every morning, would you believe them? News flash: There is. Fire Department Coffee out of Rockford, Illinois, sells tequila-infused coffee that has all the flavor without the actual alcohol.
Fire Department Coffee uses a signature spirit-infusion process to put the flavors of the agave spirit into coffee beans. They don’t elaborate on how it’s done, but we can all use a little mystery in our lives. The result is something that tastes like coffee with added “hints of lime and a crisp, sweet finish,” the company states. Which all in all sounds a whole lot better than hazelnut. But you’re not alone if you have doubts, just get past them. The first review of the coffee is from a guy named Patrick, who writes he “was hesitant at first, but this is definitely worth giving it a try.”
You can feel good about drinking your tequila-infused coffee, too. Fire Department Coffee is owned by people with years of military and fire department service, and a portion of every order goes to charities that support firefighter and military charities. It’s not all tequila, either. The company also makes bourbon-infused, Irish whiskey-infused and rum-infused coffee (and a four coffee bundle pack if you’re indecisive). There’s also regular, non spirit-infused coffee, but why be a plain Joe when you have better options.
There are plenty of whiskey infused coffee out there, from Jim Beam’s branded dark roast to Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Coffee. Even Starbucks has a whiskey flavored coffee. But you won’t find much tequila-infused coffee out there (or rum-infused, for that matter) other than Fire Department Coffee. To get some for yourself and make your morning that much more bearable, you can order a bag for $20 on the Fire Department Coffee website.
