Winter is here—both literally and in the best way, the Game of Thrones way. Although the final books are M.I.A. and there’s no scheduled release date for the final season of the show, GOT life continues on with the release of a show-inspired beer series based on your favorite characters.
Brewery Ommegang, which has already made nine GOT beers, recently announced the Royal Reserve Collection. The four limited-release beers will be “an homage to one of four epic figures in the battle for the Seven Kingdoms,” the brewery states. Each beer will be “brewed and blended with ingredients selected to match the character and temperament of the chosen hero.”
The first in the series will be for Tyrion Lannister, because “who better to receive our first tribute” than “the man who so famously drinks and knows things,” vice president of global licensing at HBO Jeff Peters said in a statement. Dubbed Hand of the Queen, the beer is a barleywine with flavors of dark fruit and apricot. Sales start in April, and a 750-milliliter bottle carries the suggested retail price of $12.99.
We’ll have to wait to see which character will get the royal beer treatment next, but Ommegang did announce that they’ll be released in July, October and December of 2018. Until then, satisfy your needs by rewatching a season or two and drinking one of the many character-based cocktails out there.
