You Can Retire to Margaritaville (Really)

For a certain generation, Jimmy Buffett’s ode to Margarita-drenched easy living is an acoustic mantra—and that generation is getting real old. Luckily, we have just the place for them to live out the last of their days, blissfully searching for their lost shaker of salt. The Margaritaville resort company is hoping to capitalize on help those aging Parrotheads by setting up a “Margaritaville”-themed retirement complex in—where else?—Florida.

Like many Florida retiree enclaves, Latitude Margaritaville in Daytona will feature thousands of homes, amenities like a pool and gym, and easy access to the beach. But unlike your garden variety retirement home, Latitude Margaritaville will be infused throughout with the faux-island vibes of the Margaritaville resort brand, including the restaurant chain’s signature Margaritas and “boat drinks,” like the Who’s to Blame® Margarita and the Last Mango in Paris—made with Margaritaville Spirits, of course. If you or a supremely chill retired relative are curious about the immersive Buffett village, you can check out the retail portion of the facility this fall.

While Buffett calls Palm Beach home, he may visit his elderly fans to take advantage of the home’s band shell and performance venue. Even if the big man himself doesn’t grace the stage at Latitude Margaritaville, we can think of worse ways to spend our final years than sipping a slushy beach drink in tropical-ish luxury, wasted away again in Margaritaville.
