Martha Stewart Is Launching a Wine Company

The next time you’re stocking your wine fridge, don’t just grab the bottles with the brightest, craziest labels. Instead, go for wines that have been personally tasted and selected by the one and only Martha Stewart. The home entertaining maven just launched the Martha Stewart Wine Co., an online wine shop offering carefully curated collections of wine vetted by everyone’s favorite ex-con.

“Wine has played an important role in the part of my life focused on entertaining,” Stewart said in a statement. “With the launch of this fabulous online wine shop, I am confident that we can teach consumers how to pour the right wine, and enjoy the right wine, at every occasion.”

An expert panel, which includes a wine maker as well as the former sommelier of The French Laundry in California, consults with vintners from around the world to curate their selections, but each wine also needs to get the Martha Stewart stamp of approval based on its quality, flavor and ability to pair well with food.

The company aims to have something for every type of vino lover, offering a wide range of varietals and price points, from affordable to special occasion bottles. A special collection called “Martha’s Favorites” will include her go-to crowd pleasers; some of the current offerings include an Italian NV Abbazia Moscato Rosé Dolce ($15) and a 2016 French Cuvée Joëlle Malbec et Merlot ($13).

Enthusiasts can also subscribe to monthly and year-long subscriptions, with tailored recommendations based on their preferences. The company also offers themed wine packs, focused on regions, flavor profiles and varietals. Shipping is included with orders of 12 bottles or more.

To help teach her acolytes how to entertain as she does, Stewart’s new site will feature wine-friendly recipes, hostess ideas, etiquette tips, bottle reviews and video tasting notes. Mostly, though, we’re just excited about uncorking a Martha-approved bottle of wine while re-watching our favorite show of last year: Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. It’s a good thing.
