It's already easy to harbor a burning hatred for the TSA. But now you have more justification for all that rage, as security lines are longer than ever, causing more and more people to miss their flights. In fact, one airline just reported that 70,000 people missed their flights already this year. Yeah, good luck this weekend.
American Airlines announced that, according to its records, 70,000 customers and 40,000 checked bags didn't make their flights this year due exclusively to the insanity-inducing length of TSA lines. And those are just the reported numbers of one airline. To put this in context, this comes after Homeland Security issued a statement on ridiculous wait times, and a top TSA official was canned.
Naturally, this means that if you're traveling over Memorial Day weekend, you'll need to get to the airport way before your scheduled departure. CNN suggested arriving two hours for domestic flights, and that wasn't even in reference to a holiday weekend. Three hours early? It's sadly not out of the question.
Or you can just run to the gate at full-speed in your socks with your belt off. That's more realistic.
