The Food That Puts Anthony Bourdain in His ‘Happy Zone’

Anthony Bourdain has long professed his love for foods like high-end sushi from Jiro in Tokyo, no-frills cheeseburgers from Shake Shack, and even sheep balls. Now, in a short clip from an upcoming episode of Parts Unknown in Cologne, Germany, the globetrotting celebrity ex-chef reveals the food (or at least one of the foods) that puts him in his "happy zone."

"It's when the Himmel und Erde, or Heaven and Earth, hits the table that I start to get deep into my happy zone," Bourdain says in the video. "That's blood sausage, fried onions, and mashed potatoes with applesauce, which if you don't like, by the way, pretty much removes you from my 'Will Save From Drowning' list."

That's right, Bourdainophiles: blood sausage. Considering the congealed links' popularity in places all over the world, this particular pick isn't all that surprising for a dude like Bourdain. As for whether you'd eat it, well, that's up to you and, well, possibly dependent on your swimming skills in the vicinity of Anthony Bourdain. Oh, and it's probably safe to assume you'll find it somewhere among the foods that'll be sold at the forthcoming Bourdain Market in NYC.

As for the new episode of Parks Unknown, you can watch it this upcoming Sunday at 9pm ET on CNN.
