There's a Wine for Cats and It's Called 'Pinot Meow'

When there's a beer for dogs, it's only a matter of time before the equivalent for cats comes along. And here it is.

Since cats prefer wine to beer (probably), Denver-based Apollo Peak created a non-alcoholic wine that's safe for cats to drink, containing catnip and colored with fresh beets. The ingredients don't have anything in common with actual human wine, but the idea is to mimic the experience of sharing a bottle of wine with a friend. Cats are friends too.

Speaking to the Huffington Post, the founder of Apollo Peak Brandon Zavala explained, “It’s made like a tea,. But since we got it to look so much like a wine, we want it to be perceived as a wine by the consumer — that way they can feel as though they are having a glass of wine with their pet.”

Now this actually isn't the first of its kind, as there's a wine for cats in Japan. However, Apollo Peak is bringing cat wine to the US, and you can buy a bottle of "Pinot Meow" or "Moscato" for $11.95 on the website. If that sounds pricy given that you only buy cheap Trader Joe's wine, just remember that your cat has better taste then you.

Stay classy.
