While "SNL" dived right into another week of outrageous presidential politics in last night's cold open sketch, the show later took advantage of its host, Ariana Grande, to poke a bit of fun at the music business; particularly, the bumpy last several months for Jay Z's music streaming service, Tidal.
In a sketch almost identical to one featuring Bruno Mars and Pandora in 2012, a sudden power failure at Tidal HQ disables several of the music service's most important streams, leaving Chloe the intern (Grande) to step up and fill in for artists like Britney Spears, Shakira, Rihanna, and others while they attempt to fix the outage. After a few minutes of Grande's insane, spot-on music impressions -- including Celine Dion and even Whitney Houston -- the streams are fully restored and Chloe has single-handedly saved the day for Tidal. But, in the end, it might just be better off with Grande's damn good covers.
Instead she's left with everyone's coffee orders.
