Political issues can get nasty and divisive -- especially when Donald Trump is talking. But this article's not to poke fun at the Donald. No, it's to help you understand why people care about the burgeoning Democratic candidate, Bernie Sanders.

On Sunday, Reddit user prettygoodgoingstarted a thread asking, "Redditors who want Bernie Sanders to become president, why?" So far, the question has attracted over 4,000 comments from apparent supporters on issues including the candidate's stance on raising the minimum wage, climate change, and bucking the political influence of corporate interests. And while we're in no way endorsing Sanders or any political candidate, here are a few interesting responses about the guy:

“In short, he is for the little guy.”

"He's willing to be frank about what's wrong."

“He has a long history of being consistent.”

“Bernie is the most radical, progressive figure to get this close to the White House since JFK…”

“Ya gotta applaud the guy for supporting gay marriage in the 1970’s.”

"He sternly wants way more action taken against climate change."

“He is not Hillary Clinton and not Republican.”
