Not only is November 3rd National Sandwich Day, but it's also a day you could actually be a nice person without even trying, thanks to a promotion from Subway.
Here's the deal: When you buy any 6in or Footlong Sub and a 30oz drink on Tuesday, Subway will let you give a second sub of equal or lesser value to someone of your choice. It's basically a buy-one-get-one-free bonus, but with the built-in opportunity to do something nice for a friend or someone who needs those additional six inches more than you do. Maybe you can make a new sandwich-loving friend in the process. You really can't go wrong... well, unless you're heartless. In that case: how have you made it this far without a heart?
On top of National Sandwich Day, Subway is marking the launch of a new campaign it calls #SaveLunchBreak, which encourages people to take a break from the workday and recharge with something to eat -- presumably, Subway sandwiches. To really drive home the point, the Footlong purveyor commissioned a study on 1,500 people's lunch break habits, and the results are dismal. For example, the survey finds that as many as seven in 10 people take a lunch break lasting 30 minutes or less, and that approximately 20% of millennials take lunch breaks lasting fewer than 15 minutes. That's almost as depressing as a soggy sandwich.
Subway created an infographic with more of the findings, shown below. But the important thing: you can give someone a free sub, and all you gotta do is buy lunch. Win-win.
