Optimism is a commendable reaction to most situations, and a positive outlook can make all the difference when confronting adversity. But there are limits. Like, if, hypothetically, a restaurant were literally ablaze, you'd be safe to assume that you were not, in fact, going to get served a hamburger.

It's a real testament to the human spirit that when an A&W was steadily burning to the ground in Winnipeg, Canada last Sunday evening, customers kept their eyes on the prize and remained lined up in the drive-thru.

Global News reports that when a customer saw smoke coming from the restaurant and called 911 a little after 5pm, people were still lined up, "oblivious to the situation." Once the eight or so firetrucks arrived, however, everyone got wise to the situation and self-evacuated.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured, though a firefighter suffered minor injuries that reportedly did not require hospitalization. Crews were seen working as late 2:30am.

While the building is basically gone, the franchise owner wants to rebuild.

"I've seen the pictures and it virtually burnt to the ground,” an A&W Canada spokesperson said to the Free Press, as cited by Munchies. “The franchise owner really wants to rebuild and there are a number of steps he'll have to go through, but he wants to get it [...] open this year.”

Considering demand is this high, we see his point.
