Dunkin' Is Giving Free Donuts & Coffee to Healthcare Workers Today

The ubiquitous donut chain is offering a sweet thanks to those working very hard right now.

Dunkin' (née Donuts) has been dishing out free donuts quite a bit over the last few months. It's become a Friday routine for many people. Its Free Donut Friday promo has been aimed at providing a little relief in the midst of a very stressful time.

It's arguably been most stressful for those working in healthcare facilities. To kick off National Nurses Week on May 6, Dunkin' is going to offer a free medium coffee and free donut -- no purchase required whatsoever -- to any nurse or healthcare worker. There's no shortage of perks for healthcare workers during the week, but this is a pretty sweet way to start the day.

Of course, the company added the caveat that the deal is only available at participating locations, but it sounds like most are participators. Nonetheless, you should call ahead to be sure that your local Dunkin' is going to slide you a free coffee and donut for the road.

This is certainly a very visible perk for healthcare workers, but that's not all the coffee and breakfast dessert company has been doing during the outbreak. It has delivered hundreds of thousands of free cups of coffee, donuts, K-Cup pods, and gift cards to over 300 hospitals and emergency sites across the US throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nurses and healthcare workers absolutely deserve applause, appreciation, and free coffee. But maybe give a thank you or simulated and socially distanced high-five to the people working at restaurants and quick-service counters too. They deserve a little appreciation as well right now.
