Unless you're a Top Chef contestant, all you know about mushrooms is they taste really good sautéed with onions and placed atop your burger. How to best use them, otherwise, might be a mystery. But if you have three minutes to spare before you grab that mushroom burger, now's a good time for Gordon Ramsay to teach you all about the delicious fungi.
In a video posted on Ramsay's YouTube channel, both Ramsay and mushroom expert Fred Foster give tips on how to cook with mushrooms, teaching proper pairings, how to clean, and how to determine freshness. It's a nice starter mushroom guide for beginning chefs, and a warning to never wash your mushrooms under water (Never! Use a soft brush instead.).
Watch it and then explain the subtle flavor differences between a morel and a trompette de la mort mushroom to all your friends. They'll love that.
