Sometimes you just want to read a text and not respond immediately. Of course, if read receipts are turned on, that'll make whoever sent it think, "WTF? ARE YOU IGNORING ME?" While Mom should probably calm down, there is, in fact, a way to get around pissing her off. And it doesn't even involve medication.
You can totally avoid that "read" marker altogether by using the "3D Touch" on newer model iPhones, as demonstrated in the above MacRumors video. Basically, "3D touch" allows you to view an iMessage and keep it in a state of "Delivered" limbo. Alternatively, you can go into your settings and turn "read" off forever. But, the "3D Touch" option allows you to be selective, and dare we say... sneaky?
