Just looking at a picture of yourself from eight years ago can inspire of a mix of thoughts like "Oh my god that hair!" and "What the hell happened to me," and "Oh man, I miss that shirt." But just imagine how surreal it'd be to watch a time lapse-video of yourself aging over the span of eight and a half years via thousands of daily selfies. That's exactly what a 20-year-old dude has created, and it's stunning.
In just two minutes, you can watch a 12-year-old Hugo Cornellier gradually transform into a 20-year-old man -- complete with several changes of scenery, the expected physical changes over so many years (hello, chest hair!), and even a few facial hair experiments along the way, among other events he notes in captions throughout. Notably absent in those selfies: smiles, and progressively more often, Hugo's shirt.
As he explains in the video's description, the project not only involved taking selfies every day for the last eight and a half years, but also painstakingly editing each of them to be centered. But despite all the work, Cornellier said he's far from done.
"The project is now everything I want it to be," he said in the video description. "See y'all at the 10 year mark."
Finally, selfies used for something actually cool.
