If you're feeling a little inundated by the constant Pokémon Go fervor online (and in parks), you're not alone. With Pokémon Go being downloaded more than Tinder on Android and outranking porn in Google searches since its release last week, even Pokémon Go lovers might be feeling a little Poké-overload.
Since it doesn't look like the tidal wave of Pikachu is likely to abate in the near future, these Chrome extensions that mute talk about Pokémon Go are now must-haves. There are two extensions that will shut off mentions, allowing you to focus on the important stuff, such as clouds that look like a penis.
Check in to Hotel Thrillist this September!
The first extension is Pokémon Go Away by developer Inti De Ceukelaire. This one seems the most useful. It shuts down mentions of Pokémon on Facebook, Twitter, and 9Gag. Once the extension is activated, like magic, all mentions of Pokémon Go evaporate, making your social media look like the "before time."
The other extension is Pokémon No by developer Conor Browne. This one is similar, but claims to eliminate Pokémon mentions from any page online. In the above video it tries its magic on Google. The difference here appears to be that the extension removes the actual text about the game and not the entire post, while Pokémon Go Away removes full posts out of your Facebook or Twitter feeds.
Pokémon No also has to be activated on each individual page, which may actually make it a little more useful for users who play Pokémon Go, but need a few Pokémon-free sites as a safe space.
So there, now there is brief refuge from Pokémania 2016. But if you really want to get away from it, you'll probably have to throw your computer out the window and buy an abacus.
