Look out Eggplant, There's a New Penis Emoji on the Way

With the release of iOS 9.1 for your iPhone last month, you may have already strayed away from using that same old eggplant emoji day after day, and may have instead turned to new and exciting dick-like emoji characters like the hotdog, thermometer, and, of course, "bottle with popping cork." But soon, you'll be able to get your hands -- or at least your fingertips -- on a vastly more phallic emoji character that'll make your forget all about that good ol' eggplant.

OK, enough beating around the bush. There's a new dick emoji coming to town -- and it's a giant squid. 

Well, do you see the resemblance? Granted, it might be easier if you can mentally block out the tentacles and the eyes, but as a co-worker pointed out, "It even has a line down the middle."

Specifically, the new squid emoji is among the 74 character candidates currently poised to be included in Unicode 9.0, which the Unicode Consortium expects to release next summer. And since we're already here, we should also point out that there are four additional contenders for your dick-like emoji needs: a cucumber (or pickle!), a carrot, a baguette, and a peanut. You can check out the full list of the candidates here, but keep in mind the designs could change before they hit your phone's keyboard.

While it's unclear when the fresh batch of emoji will actually appear in a software update to your phone, it's certainly something to get excited about. And, as always, text responsibly.
