Picture this: you're at McDonald's and want to bite down on a tasty McDouble and a McChicken, but you don't want to shell out more than $2. Impossible, right? WRONG. It seems as though the international burger chain has been paying close attention to all our your internal monologues with the launch of its new McPick 2 Menu.
It's a crazy-simple idea; pick two of the following items -- a McDouble, a McChicken, small fries and mozzarella sticks -- and get them both for $2.
However, there's a huge catch: the new menu will apparently be replacing the beloved Dollar Menu... at least for a little while. NBCNews reports that the McPick 2 menu "has gained the necessary votes from franchisees to make it onto the national menu, and will be available in U.S. restaurants for a five-week run starting Jan. 4." First Egg McMuffins all day, and now the opportunity to smash guts with two sandwiches for the price of less than on New York subway ride?!
Still, why the move away from the Dollar Menu? According to the Wall Street Journal, people simply can't handle it. "'We view the move toward a long-term national value platform as positive for McDonald’s,'" Nomura Securities analyst Mark Kalinowski said in a note last month. He said the recent "'Dollar Menu & More' had confused some customers and failed to ignite growth."
We're a strong nation and will embrace this change with open mouths. Where do we sign up? Oh, there's nowhere to sign up. Gotcha.
