You might love Netflix, but when's the last time you updated anything in your account? Exactly. Recently, Mashable reported that Netflix saw a loss of 300,000 sign-ups from last quarter — a number that attributed in large part to the ongoing switch from conventional credit cards to new chip-based cards. Update your credit card information when you get new credit cards.
It's a hit that Netflix is truly feeling, as Mashable goes on to report that the massive video-streaming service "added 880,000 members in the last three months, falling well short of Wall Street expectations of 1.25 million." Now I ain't no mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that 880,000 < 1.25 million. Oh, and those low numbers have also caused Netflix's stock to drop.
On the other hand, not everyone's adept at spotting important emails from your bank or—if you're like me—picking up the goddamn phone when the bank actually calls. A good tip-off that your credit card information has changed would be the perpetual decline of your credit card in business establishments.
If you're signed up with Netflix and enjoy Netflix, update your information.
