You have to sacrifice something to grab a cheap round trip -- usually comfort and/or service. That's just how it works, right? Well, no, not exactly. In fact, not sacrificing quality for price is exactly what makes one airline America's favorite.
Travel deal site Airfarewatchdog conducted a survey of over 11,000 American travelers to find out which US airlines excel in terms of service and value. When the results came in, one airline dominated the field, winning absolutely everything: Southwest Airlines.
47.5% of travelers said Southwest Airlines provided the best value for your money, far and away the most. By comparison, only Southwest and JetBlue garnered more than 10%, but second-place JetBlue got just 14.5%.
On top of that value win, Southwest can also boast the best frequent flyer program. Southwest's program gained almost a third of the survey vote -- 29.6% to be exact -- beating out Delta (20.5%), American (17%), and United (14%).
Just to add to Southwest's day in the sun, it also won for friendliest flight attendants, with 44.5% of travelers praising Southwest's flight attendants over all major US carriers. The competition didn't even come close, with Delta claiming second with a paltry 14.8%.
Thus, it won't surprise you that Southwest was determined to be the best overall US airline both in this Airfarewatchdog survey and according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index 2016 report. And just to put a cherry on top of all this, the Southwest fare sale is still going on.
If you were another airline, you'd probably hate Southwest for being such an overachiever. But thankfully, you're not an airline. Enjoy it.
