As you can imagine, $5 Footlong fans are annoyed. Sure, paying an extra dollar kind of sucks and "six dollar, six dollar footlooooooong," doesn't have nearly as much of a ring to it, but we should have seen this coming, guys. Then again, you can buy a gallon of gas for like $1.50, even though it's 2016. Although, Subway doesn't really make subs out of gasoline, so that's probably irrelevant.
We reached out to a Subway spokesperson for more details.
Update: When asked about what happened to the $5 Footlong, a Subway spokesperson provided the following statement via email:
"We’re always looking for new ways to bring our guests great tasting, quality subs that are worth the price. We’re introducing the new $6 ALL Classic Footlong promotion starting tomorrow and running through the end of the month. We first introduced the $5 Footlong back in 2008 and in the nine years since, everyone’s costs have gone up and inflation has changed the value of the dollar."
