Sushi Donuts Are a Thing Now, and They're Beautiful

If you think about it, sushi and donuts are pretty far from the most logical things to slap together for a food mashup. And yet, despite the two foods' differences, people have somehow found a way to make it work. They're called sushi donuts, and they're yet another delicious-looking Instagram food trend.

As explained in a report by Mashable, Instagram user sobeautifullyraw may have launched the trend with two recent photos showing insanely good-looking homemade sushi donuts. As you can see in the photos, they're basically pieces of sushi that are formed into a donut shape and decorated with things like wasabi, ginger, avocado, mayo, and other typical sushi ingredients or condiments. But, really, it looks like the donut-like shape is as close to donuts as these things get. Unfortunately.

Anyway, you can check out two of sobeautifullyraw's photos below, as well as few other sexy sushi donut shots from other people getting in on the trend:

Even Whole Foods is in on the sushi donut action, sharing this sexy sushi donut photo on National Donut Day earlier this month. Unfortunately, they're not available in Whole Foods stores.
