For Californians, a dream trip to Paris or Rome can quickly turn into a half-assed trip to Vegas -- after all, it's just a tank of gas through the desert, as opposed to nearly 12 hours in the air. And getting to the fake Eiffel Tower or Caesar's Palace is a lot cheaper than the real thing. But WOW Airlines is about to make West Coasters' dreams more attainable -- in the form of cheap flights, of course.
Low cost carrier WOW Airlines, which flies from the East Coast to Europe for as little as $99, just announced plans to expand its service to California. Starting January 2016, the airline will offer discounted fares from Los Angeles and San Francisco. Currently, the airline's only US hubs are Boston and Washington DC.
WOW is unleashing its new A330-300 aircraft, their first wide-bodied plane, for the longer journey. No word yet on how low they can go on price, or in limbo. But, they're currently advertising $99 flights from Boston and DC to Reykjavik, and $149 flights from Boston and DC to London and Paris. So, the expectations are high, and in line with that, the airline's CEO promised flights "far cheaper than competitors" in the announcement.
"But why see the world when you've got the beach?" you might ask. Well, because it's cheap now. And because those places are amazing, too.
