Even though the Old Fashioned is your go-to drink when it's happy hour, you've never had an Old Fashioned quite like the one created in this train wreck of a recipe video from 2011 that recently resurfaced on social media. Warning: it's ridiculously -- no, hilariously -- bad.
Things get off to a questionable start with the bizarre choice of a pint glass instead of a standard rocks glass -- which is, of course, permissible if you're in college and don't know any better. But the recipe quickly tumbles downhill from there when the demonstrator begins to muddle the sugar, cherries, and an entire orange slice (not just a twist) with the end of a wooden spoon. The most outrageous and laughable part, however, comes around the 1:15 mark, when she says "...and then you're going to put three ounces of bourbon in," and fills the REST OF THE DAMN GLASS with bourbon. Wait, what?
The resulting drink is basically a pint of bourbon with ice and a trampled orange wedge, far from a proper Old Fashioned. But then again, as one astute commenter points out on YouTube, you probably wouldn't be mad if a bartender served you that much bourbon for whatever an Old Fashioned costs. Anyway, it's probably worth speculating whether this thing is real or a joke, given the account has been dormant for years.
Where it fails to demonstrate making a good Old Fashioned, the video at least succeeds in making us laugh.
