There are some foods out there that are scientifically proven to quell your aching head. So, it's not out of the realm of possibility that cured pork could find its place among the arsenal of fruits, vegetables, and fish that'll make you forget about the twelve hours you spent dumping beer down your talk-hole. That's what Serious Pig is aiming for with their "Holy Grail" of hangover cures, aptly-called "Hangover Cured." Get it?
The line of cured pork is high in protein and contains healthy doses of chili pepper and ginger, which experts say curb symptoms associated with hangovers. Whether or not these "experts" moonlight as Serious Pig employees is highly possible. The cured pork snacks are designed to be eaten as a preventative measure alongside alcoholic beverages to stop a hangover before it starts.
While the claims aren't totally unsubstantiated, The Independent decided to ask a nutritionist, Charlotte Stirling-Read, to weigh in on Serious Pig: “While it is a good idea to eat food, and not drink on an empty stomach, I think there might be healthier options.” But, hey, we don't need a fancy nutritionist to deduce that heavily-salted pork isn't the best thing to put inside our bodies.
Still, a night filled with meat and booze? Don't threaten me with a good time.
