A journalist and a cameraman were shot and killed during a live report Wednesday morning in Franklin County, Virginia. Authorities said the shooter is still at-large, according to multiple reports.
WDBJ7 reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were conducting a live interview at an area shopping center around 6:45am, when a gunman approached them and opened fire. Police and WDBJ7 confirmed that both Parker and Ward were killed at the scene.
Disturbing and graphic video of the shooting shows Parker smiling during the interview before what sounds like eight shots were fired, apparently leading Ward to drop the camera while Parker screams and attempts to flee. The station then switches back to the anchor in the studio, who is visibly shaken.
Here's what we know about the shooting so far:
- Police have launched a manhunt for the shooter, who Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe said is believed to be a disgruntled former employee at WDBJ7, according to a report by WTOP.
