Right now someone, somewhere in LA is using traffic as an excuse for being late, despite everyone knowing how universally panned LA traffic is. But yes, LA's signature headache-inducing standstill is still the worst in America.
After analyzing commuter data from major US metropolitan areas, transportation analytics company INRIX determined that drivers in Los Angeles spend a whopping 81 hours per year in traffic, crowning it the worst traffic city in America. Washington DC held the title back in August, but now sits in second at 75 hours. Another California city, San Francisco, racked up 75 hours as well, rounding out the top three.
The INRIX report also noted the US had the worst traffic congestion of all nations surveyed. In fact, here's a stat that should bring the whole country together in mutual sorrow: US citizens spend a communal average of eight billion hours stuck in traffic per year, or about 50 hours per driver. Gross.
Check out the 10 worst US cities for traffic below, and remember that constant complaints about traffic, no matter how justified, are always annoying.
