When you think of a peacock, you probably imagine a majestic, regal creature that spends its days preening and showing off its lovely plumage. You probably don’t think of a wild animal on a boozy rampage—but that’s exactly what California Animal Control encountered in a liquor store in Arcadia. Thankfully, store security cameras recorded the ensuing fiasco, so no one will ever again underestimate a bird on a bender.

It’s unclear how the peacock found her way into the shop (we’re guessing she was picking up a few animal-friendly bottles for a party later), but once she picked her perch on top of some bottles, she wasn’t about to leave willingly. (We know how you feel, peacock; we can spend hours in a good liquor shop too.) Much to the amusement of onlookers, the valiant Animal Control officer did his best to contain the bird with a net as the animal hopped from shelf to shelf, sending bottles shattering on the floor. Even as the peacock avoided capture, the officer scored the pyrrhic victory of catching several falling bottles in his net.
From the looks of her, the peacock was totally unremorseful about the damage she’d caused, which racked up to about $500 in spoiled booze, according to the BBC. We just hope the officer made her pay the tab before releasing her back into the wild.
