Snoop Dogg, the 46-year-old Grammy nominated rapper and co-host of Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, has solidified his title as the king of Gin and Juice. Over Memorial Day Weekend, Snoop set a Guinness World Record for the largest glass of Gin and Juice, proving that his 1993 Doggystyle debut album will never fade from the collective memory while the D-O double G is alive and well enough to entertain the masses.
Officially, the award is for the “largest paradise cocktail,” and he shares it with Warren G, Michael Voltaggio, Kim Kaechele and Kendall Coleman. Whatever the Guinness World Record makers want to call it, this is undeniably Gin and Juice. It’s made with 180 bottles of Hendrick’s gin and Whole Foods orange juice. In all, the five-by-three-feet glass held just under 145 gallons of drink, and was made on stage at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in front of a crowd.
The ingredients are a slight switch up from Snoop Dogg’s early days. Both Seagrams and Tanqueray get shout outs in “Gin & Juice” the song, and while the juice isn’t specified, it certainly wasn’t Whole Foods brand. But does it matter? There’s an undeniable joy of watching Snoop pour gin from a giant Hendrick’s bottle into a glass taller than him, stirring it with a massive red straw and then capping the drink with a human-sized umbrella. Snoop Dogg is, in every way imaginable, living his best life.
