Target Is Selling Its Own $5 Wine Brand Now
Break out the Sangria pitchers because this Labor Day is about to get a whole lot boozier: Target is releasing its own brand of wine this weekend for only $5 a bottle, just in time for your barbecue.
The affordable wine brand, California Roots, includes a Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon and red blend. And did we mention that each bottle will only cost you a crisp Lincoln?
While Target already sells wine at locations nationwide—at both standard stores and in the new, dedicated wine annexes—this is the first brand of alcohol that can exclusively be found at Target. The wine is launching in over 1,100 locations across the country on September 3.
At $5 a bottle, California Roots is a bit pricier than Trader Joe’s beloved Charles Shaw wine, affectionately known as Two Buck Chuck. But Target locations are certainly more common than Trader Joe’s, giving the retail chain a leg up on commercial availability.
At the moment, we’re deciding to remain neutral on the ongoing retail wine battle, instead choosing to celebrate the bevy of cheap, readily accessible wine. Now if they would only start fighting over who can release the best cheap whiskey…
